HEALTH PREP #3: Buy to Cook...

In buying food with intention there are no rules against eating baked goods. If you want brownies, buy intentionally when there is an event and only the amount you need, or buy the ingredients. Having to mix ingredients, stir, and then wait for them to bake will keep you from overeating and having food sit around your house. The more time you have to wait to gratify your hunger the less likely you are to make those sweets.
Psychology of the brain - Your body, mostly your brain, wants instant gratification. It is built into our systems. From every gold star to Facebook Like we received, to even brownie we inhaled, our body released dopamine. It is the 'job well done' chemical released by our body when we accomplish any task. When our brain wants the dump of dopamine it will find the easiest task to accomplish in order for its release. This is why when it comes to finishing a long project that only has an hour left or washing three dishes in the sink, we will choose the distraction, the easier and quicker accomplishment. We are addicted to dopamine. The chemical is great for our psychy unless we only do the easy tasks, which is why making something that is sweet and will take an hour to bake is less enticing than grabbing a tub of ice cream and eating right away.
It is human nature to desire instant gratification. If your mind knows that it will have to make the food, it is less likely to run off impulse and more likely to run off intention, making you smarter, stronger, and less impulsive. This is all part of training your body and mind together. This is one of the accomplishments you will receive through our courses and you will be able to acknowledge these triggers and overcome them by the time we are done.
Most times, it's the longer, harder tasks that are your priorities and we need to work on your priorities before we accomplish your ultimate goals in Family Life, Time Management, Personal Finances, Business, or your Health. The psyche is where it all begins and you will have a stronger mind by the time we are done and that is why you will be healthier and more successful at everything you do.
ACTION ITEM:
1) Get rid of all your sweets. Invite friends to eat them, give them to neighbors, eat a few, and/or dump them in the trash but get them out of your house;
2) Acknowledge that you have control over what you buy and so what you eat as well;
3) Buy food that you have to cook.
