"How do I scratch my itch with a niche..."
What do you really want to do in life. Do you have a project, product, or service in mind that really gets your heart pumping. I believe you do. I believe everyone does. Doesn't matter who you are or if you have a business mindset
WHAT: (What is the thing that you do well that someone, just one person, has ever asked you for advice? What did you teach them and could others use that information.)
WHO: (Who was that person that asked you for advice? Let's give her a name for now. Introducing Jane. What did she ask you? Keep the "WHO" in mind when we talk about finding your Avatar.)
WHERE: (Where can you get this done. Do you need to produce a product and so need space to do so or are you going information based and just need a computer. Where can you connect with your niche. Where do they hang out.)
WHEN: Chinese Proverb: “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” When are you going to stop dancing around it and get this done. Get moving and get to helping people.
Whatever your idea, you can make anything a business these days, if you come at it from the right angle. There is almost always someone to by something.
FINDING YOUR AVATAR:
WHO: Introducing Jane. She was your friend or associate that asked you advice in the past.
INTERESTS: What are her interests? (Does she like to read, listen to podcasts, DIY...)
PAIN POINTS: What does she struggle with? (Taking care of kids, office work, commuting)
HELP NEEDED: What would truly help to make her life easier? (Help with kids, office work, cleaning her house, making activities her kids will enjoy...)
HANG OUT: Where does she and people like her spend most of their work and free time. (On social media, at the mall, at church, at home with kids...)
PAYMENT: Is she willing to pay for it then you have a service or product to make for her. If she is not willing to pay, is someone else willing to pay you to give it to her?
Now everyone you target will be almost exactly as she is. You want to niche down until it hurts. If you focus on every niche, you will focus on no niche and will never help the person who needs the help. Niche down until it hurts means to find the exact perfect person you are try to connect with and target them. More on this in my later blog MARKETING TO YOUR BULLSEYE.
Figure out who she/he is, what she wants, and more importantly, what she needs. She doesn't have to be willing to pay for the services either. She just needs to be willing to accept it. If you find what she wants and you can fulfill it then you can scratch your itch with her as your target niche. And in the end someone will pay to get her that information. More on this with my later blog: HOW TO GET PAID.
